2020 is a big election year in the U.S. We’re not only voting for our next president, but there are hotly contested congressional races across the country, as well as critical down ballot races that will directly impact our communities. Our voices always matter, but as the repercussions from the pandemic have hit the dance community and its supporters hard, it’s critical that all of us vote for the future we want to see and are ready to work for.
What better way to amplify this message than to dance it out.
DJ Minx was recently featured by Rave the Vote, which is encouraging us to register to vote and to get to the polls. She played alongside Carl Craig, DJ Pierre, and DJ Holographic, among others, and never one to keep it simple, she left us with an empowering playlist to keep us moving all the way to the ballot box (or the mailbox).
The playlist grounds us with the words of Martin Luther King, then Kendrick Lamar reminds us we’re gon’ be alright before Sam Cooke lets us know that a change is gonna come. True to form, mixed in are some bumpin’ soulful House tracks, including WOW favorite Honey Dijon and a classic from Fish Go Deep, as are some Motown classics.
